Jay Wickersham, Chris Milford, and Hope Mayo, authors of Henry Hobson Richardson: Drawings from the Collection of Houghton Library, Harvard University (Monacelli Press / Phaidon), will discuss the drawings of architect H. H. Richardson, the greatest American architect of the nineteenth century, and what they reveal about the collaborative design process in Richardson’s studio that produced Trinity Church. Their presentation draws upon the collection of over 4,000 drawings in the Houghton Rare Book Library at Harvard, made by Richardson and members of his studio, including Charles McKim and Stanford White. The drawings, which has been preserved since Richardson’s death, have been largely unpublished and unknown until now.
