Boston. Racism. Image. Reality.
Does Boston merit the title of “most racist city in America”? In December, the Boston Globe published a seven-part series on racism in Boston, exploring local private and public sector dynamics, as well as regional sports and education. Join Adrian Walker, Boston Globe columnist and a leading contributor to the series, for a discussion about its discoveries and view on moving forward – as well as a chance to ask questions. Our discussion will be moderated by Simone John of Trinity’s Outreach staff.

#MeToo and Christian Sexual Ethics
How does our faith inform our being with each other in some of the most personal and vulnerable dimensions of our lives? For much of our collective memory, Christian sexual ethics have been dominated in the public sphere by discussions of abortion and same-sex relationships, yet our tradition has much more to say to 21st century Christians about how we are called to honor each other. In a session that welcomes all – married and single adults as well as families with teens – Professor Mark Jordan of Harvard Divinity School will provide an engaging introduction to the issues surrounding sexual ethics, identity and theology.

A Jewish Take on Jesus: Talking the Gospels with Amy Jill Levine
“You have a beautiful faith,” says Amy Jill Levine. “But you don’t need to make Judaism look bad ion order to make Christianity look good.” A self-described "Yankee Jewish feminist who teaches in a predominantly Christian divinity school in the buckle of the Bible Belt,” Levine is the author of many books, including the bestselling The Misunderstood Jew: The Church and the Scandal of the Jewish Jesus and The Meaning of the Bible: What the Jewish Scriptures and the Christian Old Testament Can Teach Us (co-authored with Douglas Knight). She is also the editor of The Jewish Annotated New Testament. In this session, Levine will help us to understand Jesus and in the context of Jewish identity in ancient Palestine, as well as examine “2,000 years of misconceptions between Christians and Jews.”
