“You have a beautiful faith,” says Amy-Jill Levine. “But you don’t need to make Judaism look bad in order to make Christianity look good.” A self-described "Yankee Jewish feminist who teaches in a predominantly Christian divinity school in the buckle of the Bible Belt,” Levine is the author of many books, including the bestselling The Misunderstood Jew: The Church and the Scandal of the Jewish Jesus and The Meaning of the Bible: What the Jewish Scriptures and the Christian Old Testament Can Teach Us (co-authored with Douglas Knight). She is also the editor of The Jewish Annotated New Testament. In this session, Levine will help us to understand Jesus and in the context of Jewish identity in ancient Palestine, as well as examine “2,000 years of misconceptions between Christians and Jews.”
