On Dec. 23, 2025, Trinity Vestry member Chuks Okoli drove the short distance to his hometown of Ubulu from the state capital of Owerri, Nigeria. After diverting to a smaller road because of traffic, members of a separatist movement kidnapped Chuks and held him captive for 30 hours in an open tent until the payment of a ransom. His captors took his car, wedding ring, and other items of value on his person, but they did not physically harm Chuks, despite their threats and history of violence. At the Okolis’ request, today we join their thanks to God with our own – along with family and friends livestreaming from Nigeria – for Chuks’ swift passage through this dangerous ordeal.
After worship on Sun., Mar 8, the Okolis’ family and friends invite you to join them for a seated lunch in thanksgiving for Chuks’ safe return. All are welcome.
