Dean Emerita of the Seminary of the Southwest, Anglican biblical scholar, feminist theologian, and poet, the Very Rev. Dr. Cynthia Briggs Kittredge, received degrees from Williams College and Harvard University, and was ordained to the priesthood in the Episcopal Diocese of Massachusetts. A fuller bio may be found here. Dr. Kittredge joined our Lenten explorations for two Sundays – March 23 and 30 – as a preacher and as the 2025 Price Lecturer.
On March 30, Morgan preached all three services, and Dr. Kittredge built on the prior week’s discussion, presenting a lecture entitled, “Faithful and Critical Engagement with the Theology of Luke the Evangelist.” Liberation theologians laud the gospel of Luke as the gospel of the poor, yet others criticize the same text for its accommodation to empire. As we engage the gospel with historical perspective and poetic imagination, we will encounter Jesus’ vision for healing, forgiveness, and salvation for all flesh.
