The Feast of Stewardship

Dear Trinity Church,

In the Episcopal tradition, we mark liturgical seasons with feast days and special worship services … and goodness gracious, Trinity Church, did we ever do that this past Sunday!

Stewardship may not be one of the “official” liturgical seasons, and yet together we enjoyed a wonderful feast of worship and fellowship and generosity and thanksgiving all day long as we celebrated the ingathering of pledges for the upcoming year

Though the season of stewardship will soon give way to Advent, the ministry of stewardship is ongoing. God is always creating, Christ is always redeeming, the Holy Spirit is always sustaining. As faithful disciples, we are always giving thanks to God and always offering our best gifts to further the work of the Church.

If you have already made your pledge, we thank you! If you have yet to make your pledge, we welcome that commitment at any time in the days and weeks ahead. Soon our vestry leaders will begin the work of setting Trinity’s budget for 2026; annual pledges are the single largest source of financial support for our ministries, and a generous stewardship response helps inform our parish’s plans for the year ahead.

Your pledge reflects gratitude for all the ways you are held in Christ’s love. It expresses a meaningful commitment to your fellow parishioners. It’s also an investment in our community’s ability to share God’s grace in the City of Boston and beyond.

The prayers we offered and the hundreds of bread loaves we shared on Sunday symbolize all of this, too. God’s generous provision and nourishment; our fellowship as a Christian community whether gathered at God’s table or our own; our call to share our blessings broadly (which we lived out in part by sharing more than 100 loaves of bread with our partners and neighbors at Women’s Lunch Place following our Sunday events).

It is a joyful synchronicity that stewardship season transitions directly into Thanksgiving. As we reflect on the wonderful ingathering we celebrated on Sunday and look ahead to the stewardship ministry still before us, we give thanks to God for all who generously support Trinity Church with your gifts of time, talent, and treasure.

With prayers for grateful hearts and gracious lives,

Lonsdale Koester
