Trinity Sunday of Giving

Dear Trinity Church and Friends,

 

Grace and Peace this spring Tuesday. I hope you and yours continue to stay well as our Program Year nears its conclusion this weekend.

 

With optimism and excitement, I write to announce a new event in our Trinity calendar and, along with Dr. Niven R. Narain, to share important updates from our Regathering Task Force.

 

 

Trinity Sunday of Giving

I hope you will join me in looking forward to Sunday, May 30 – Trinity Sunday in the Church calendar – for a day-long event that will build meaningful momentum and capacity for our in-person reopening.

 

Overview

Our “Trinity Sunday of Giving” will begin promptly at midnight as the clock and calendar turn to May 30, and the initiative will run through the wee hours of Sunday. During the day between, we will be in touch often during worship, via email, and through social media, all with the invitation for you and yours to make a gift – in any amount – to the parish.  All the gifts we receive will go toward offsetting the costs of our safe return to Copley Square, and toward our continued delivery of high-quality, live-streamed and pre-recorded worship and programs for those who, come September, are not ready to regather in-person.

 

What to Expect

We hope that this “Trinity Sunday of Giving” will launch an annual tradition, each year focused on a different, extra-budget opportunity. Importantly, the event will focus on the number of gifts received, rather than the dollar amount raised. This focus allows for equity in our appeal; everyone can participate at the same level, for every gift will count the same: as one. We intend this emphasis to affirm the sufficiency of our annual Stewardship program endeavored in fall, while also reaching those who have not, yet, made a pledge, or who customarily give when on-campus for our ministries.

 

The program will build energy throughout the day with inspiring messages and challenges that prioritize giving through mobile devices and through means (PayPal, Text-To-Give, Apple Pay, Google Pay, Debit Card, Credit Card Stripe, etc.) uncommon to our Stewardship system. If you have not made an online gift before, this will be your chance to give that technology a whirl!

 

How to Help

Most importantly, of course, please plan to make a gift on Trinity Sunday! And if your mom and dad back home in Peoria, or your college roommate out in Denver, or your godchild in Sarasota, have been enjoying our “From Home” worship and programs for this last year, forward directly to them some of our emails, so that they can lend their generous support and express their thanks for this pandemic adventure we have experienced together. Likewise, we hope you will share our posts to your Facebook page or Instagram Story, so that as many people as possible can participate in the day.

 

Finally, we hope that you will pray for this new program. On Trinity Sunday, we celebrate the God who, by nature, is a community, and we ask you to pray that our efforts on that day will renew and enrich our Trinity Church community as we happily anticipate being together again.
