Fire Safety Measures at Trinity Church
In light of the heartbreaking news of fires this week at Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris and the Cathedral of St. John the Divine in New York, we want you to be aware of the recent measures that Trinity has taken to upgrade our fire safety measures.
With funds raised in the Capital Campaign, Trinity has recently completed extensive rewiring of the church attics, replacing electrical wiring that in some cases was more than 70 years old.
We also installed an upgraded fire detection system, with many more sensors in the church attics. You may have noticed the new fire annunciation panel as you enter the Parish House.
The Building Committee is continuing to review additional strategies for fire prevention that are currently beyond our means but could be pursued as more funds become available.
In addition, the Emergency Procedures manual and plans for regular drills and trainings for staff and parishioners is currently being updated.
Though no aging structure can be completely fireproof, we believe these strategies and considerable investments, made possible by the generosity of the parish, will help to protect Trinity Church and its people for decades to come.
