Construction Project Begins with Blessing
Sam Lloyd led a blessing today of the construction project that will begin in the coming week, and has been made possible through the generosity of so many in our life, and through the grace of God.
O Risen Christ, for the new life you bring to us and all the world, we give you thanks.
So many gifts you give. And for all these gifts our hearts overflow with thanks.
For the firm foundation for faith that we find in you, discovering over and over that you bring life out of death, and good out of evil, we give you thanks.
For the firm foundation you have laid for the work of this parish here in Copley Square these past 140 years, we give you thanks.
For the visionary and game-changing gift of those who gave 27 million dollars to firm up the foundation of this Holy House of prayer and ministry for coming generations, we give you thanks.
For the many generous souls in this parish who have responded to that generous gift, giving thus far more than 21 million dollars to strengthen this building, dedicate our new chapel, and stretch out even more widely into our beloved city our ministries of social justice, we give you thanks.
For those who are still contemplating the gifts that they can give to help us bring in the remaining dollars we need to carry forward this holy work, we give you thanks.
And now as the work of construction is about to begin, we ask your blessing on the months of work that lie ahead, and on all who will work here. Guide their hands, keep them safe, and bring this project to a successful close in time to celebrate Advent and the coming of your birth later this year.
May all we do here bring us more deeply into the heart of your love that is the beating heart of the universe. May the light kindled by that love draw more and more people to praise and serve you here, and throughout this city. In your name, and for the sake of your love, we pray.

Fences and scaffolding will be the first signs of work to be done, which will include roof repair, stone repointing and mortar repair, applying protective glazing for the stained glass windows, and cleaning and repair of the stone structure and the statuary of the West Porch. Interior work this summer will include the restoration of two La Farge murals, rewiring and repair of the electrical system, and upgrades of the fire protection and life safety systems.
