'Trinity Has Remained Our Anchor': Testimonial from Parishioner Austine Ometoruwa
Good morning Trinity Church. My name is Austine Ometoruwa. Trinity represents family, community and church to me.
I first came to Trinity 35 years ago, living in Boston as a Bank of Boston Associate - with my wife Julie then my fiancée. I worked abroad in Nigeria and Egypt as a Citibank expatriate. We raised our 3 kids (Mark, Toju & Lola) in Egypt until the Revolution and steered them to University in Boston. We returned home 8 years ago.
Our Kids have now graduated and Trinity was there most Sundays to keep them grounded in Christ’s life. To the glory of God, we’re proud grand parents from our Eldest Son, Mark & his adorable wife - Renee with three lovely kids (Luke, Eden & Noah).
Trinity has remained our anchor - reinforcing our faith in Jesus Christ with two such examples below:
i. Trinity’s 16weeks Disciples of Christ in Community (DOCC) program was our best welcome back to Boston gift. DOCC kept our Christian faith alive.
ii. The Covid years and after has been tough. Early this year, I asked our affable Reverend Patrick Ward to chat and pray with me.
We had a lovely spring day stroll in Copley - bonding in Christ’s teachings and prayers that helped me survive the storm of life - with God’s promise in Deuteronomy 31:6 : “Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified, for the Lord your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.”
Jesus’s teachings makes me believe “community” is a better word than “church” - for the kind of life he wants us to live.
Jesus said “Whoever does the will of my father in heaven is my brother, and sister, and mother” (Luke 8-21). Jesus community is a family whose members are committed to doing God’s will. God’s will is for us to love him and love each other.
My family’s love for God and our love for each other as a community is why we give to Trinity. Please join us in pledging to support Christ’s work through Trinity Church and grow our love for Jesus Christ and each other.. Thank you!
