Holy Eucharist with Sam Wells Guest Preaching

November 23 @ 10:00 am - 11:00 am

Please join us for in-person Holy Eucharist in our Copley Square building, with organ, choristers, and choir. Our 10 am service is also livestreamed to our website and to our YouTube Channel and to our Facebook page.

It is with great joy that we welcome The Rev. Dr. Sam Wells as our guest preacher at 8 am and 10 am on Sun., Nov. 23. Wells, a priest in the Church of England for over thirty years, is a prolific author of nearly 50 books, a brilliant preacher, and a highly regarded theologian gifted in bridging the gap between academic theology and practical ministry.

Sam has served in London as Vicar of St. Martin in the Fields in Trafalgar Square since 2012, and before that post was the Dean of Duke Chapel in North Carolina at Duke University for seven years. Whether he is offering the Thought for the Day on the BBC podcast, keynoting at a conference, presenting a paper to the academy of religious studies, or sitting bedside with a parishioner in the hospital, Sam Wells speaks, writes, and embodies his faith as a model to anyone who has the privilege of encountering him.

As the late scholar Walter Bruggemann once wrote, “Sam Wells arguably has the liveliest, most agile, best informed, critically disciplined mind in the entire Christian community; and he has a baptized heart of honesty, compassion, and passion to match his baptized mind.”

The 10 am service includes an in-person Children’s Homily and nursery care for little ones.

Masks are welcomed.

Sam will also join us for lunch on Mon., Nov. 24 12-1:30 pm. Sign up to join here.
