This series will explore the Early Christian Councils to help us arrive at a deeper understanding of what we “hold in common” with other Christians throughout the world. Though far from us in time, those who attended these Councils wrote the Creeds we proclaim together in our liturgies every Sunday. Far from being “dead” historical documents, these Creeds are living texts uniting all those who profess faith in the Trinitarian God revealed by the One who was God in our midst, both in the past and in the present. 

Dr. Boyd Taylor Coolman is a historical theologian who studies early and medieval Catholic theology. He currently serves as Professor of Theology at Boston College. With his wife, Holly Taylor Coolman, who is a theologian at Providence College, he lives in Providence, RI and they have five (nearly) adult children and one granddaughter.
