Dear Trinity Church and friends,
My brothers and I were all avid readers growing up. After I had finished whichever Betsy-Tacy book I had checked out from the library, I would borrow my older brother’s Choose Your Own Adventure books. You’d start the book in the usual way and then come to a point where you had to make a choice about what you wanted the main character to do — and turn to a page far ahead in the book to get there. It wasn’t a linear way of making your way through a story. You’d skip forward, read a bit more, and then flip the pages around to yet another section after making a second choice, and repeat this jumping-back-and-forth pattern again and again. The story was different every time — and as I later returned to the same book, I would make a different journey, exploring in a new direction at each turning point.
I have often thought of reading those books since Eastertide of 2024 — when the Communications team embarked on the process of building a new website for Trinity Church. Our partners, the good folks at Capetivate, have worked together with us and we created a space where seekers can make their way through our virtual doors and find something that tells a little bit of Trinity’s story. That process, too, will likely be different every time, since we don’t all make the same choices about what to check out, and that diversity of experience deeply enriches our shared table with God.
Here are some highlights: I’m pleased that Cynthia’s excellent ‘From the Historian’ series is now found in one place. If you know someone who might be interested in joining in our life together, the email sign up is easy to find — right on the front page. I’m particularly excited that new content reflecting Trinity’s weekly life: sermons, bulletins, recorded forums, and parish news, can all be found in the ‘What’s New?’ section. Be sure to add it to your bookmarks!
There is a lot more to explore, and to be added to the site in the coming weeks – stay tuned for an online Shop at Trinity! I am delighted to present the ongoing result of this work to you, and I hope it will draw in those who seek to choose their own adventure with Trinity.
Peace,
Brigitta R. Patterson
