In this edition: Stewardship Committee Wraps Up Successful Season; New Digital Signs Open Storytelling Possibilities; Choir Retreat Held; and Youth Visit Level 99

Signs & Wonders is a new feature telling stories about what’s been happening lately in Trinity’s Ministries. In a large, busy, and growing church like Trinity, there are always new-to-you corners of ministries and programs to explore — so catch up here and learn a bit about our recent work in the church and in the world beyond our walls.

Members Reflect Together Pledge Campaign

On Wed., Mar. 12, the members of Trinity’s Stewardship Committee gathered to say a final thank-you for a successful annual pledge campaign (see the Annual Parish Meeting materials for details). After worshipping together at Trinity’s weekly Evensong service, the committee shared a simple supper and reflections on the recent season. They thanked members whose terms have now concluded and began the work of recruiting next year’s members. Recalling the spirit-filled energy of the parish’s pledge ingathering last November, the committee drew from the pew cards turned in on that date as their prayer list for concluding their work for this program year (a sampling is shown in the image below).

Tour Guides Interested in Showing Parts of the Building That Cannot Be Easily Seen

The new digital signs have been illuminating the narthex and welcoming visitors for several weeks. Tour guides and parishioners Peter Smiledge and Keith Morgan say they are interested in using the signs to show parts of the building that cannot easily be seen.

For example, there are mural decorations high in the central tower, or details that are difficult to make out due to low lighting. Or, using the screens to show a graphic of the 4500 wooden pilings under the church itself; and the layer cake of artificially made land in Back Bay.

Keith Morgan says, “These visuals all help the tour guides explain the story of the church and the building more fully. … The monitors also help make the narthex a more inviting space with greater interest.” And Peter Smiledge adds that offering “some images of murals, windows etc. … might help entice visitors who have come into the narthex to pay the admission and take a audio or self-guided tour.”

Members Prepare for Holy Week, Pilgrimage to England

On Sat., Mar. 15, members of the Trinity Choir spent the day on a retreat at All Saints Ashmont, preparing for Holy Week and this summer’s pilgrimage to England to sing at Canterbury and St. Paul’s Cathedrals.

Eight Trinity Youth Solve Puzzles Together

On March 1, a group of eight youth visited Level 99 for an afternoon of puzzle solving and team challenges. We explored the local art displays, completed team challenge rooms and some even successfully made it across the famous Swinging Axe Run individual challenge. The silly games made for a fun afternoon of laughter and team building!
