SCROLL TO EXPLORE

The Rev. Morgan S. Allen

Rector

The Rev. Morgan S. Allen has served as Rector of Trinity Church in the City of Boston since 2019. Committed to nurturing Trinity as a congregation where parishioners know and love one another more and better every day, he preaches: “We advance God’s Beloved Community beyond our walls, by living that Beloved Community within our walls.” Negotiating COVID’s force during his first years, Morgan has led the parish toward sustainability: moving Trinity from deficit to balanced budgets; reorganizing a right-sized parish staff; contemporizing technology and facilities infrastructure; and collaborating with lay leaders to retire the parish’s debts. As Trinity now builds exciting post-pandemic momentum, Morgan looks forward to encouraging parishioner passions through the launch of the Ministry Council.

Before his arrival in Boston, Morgan served for a decade as Rector of Good Shepherd in Austin, Texas. For several years of his tenure, Good Shepherd was the fastest growing congregation in The Episcopal Church, and Morgan led its $24M capital campaign that included expansion of the parish’s ministry to a second campus in a more economically diverse area of the city. Previously, Morgan served as Rector of Saint Barnabas in Lafayette, Louisiana, leading that congregation through Hurricanes Katrina and Rita.

In the Episcopal Diocese of Massachusetts, Morgan currently serves as a member of the Racial Justice Commission, co-chairing its Financial Resources Subcommittee. A Phi Beta Kappa graduate of LSU [Religious Studies (Philosophy Major), Creative Writing (English Major), Film (Audio-Visual Arts Minor)], Morgan received his Master of Divinity from Seminary of the Southwest – one of The Episcopal Church’s three remaining residential seminary programs, and where Morgan currently serves as Treasurer and Trustee.

A Louisiana native, Morgan and his wife, Missy, have a college-aged son, a high-school-aged daughter, and a feisty Cocker Spaniel-Poodle mix named Daisy. Morgan enjoys spending time with his family, listening to loud music, and soldering on old pinball machines.
