DESCRIPTION:Alongside existing partnership with Rosie’s Place and Pine Street Inn\, Trinity has added a new shelter to our consortium of outreach partners: our Back Bay neighbor\, Women’s Lunch Place\, a day shelter community for women experiencing poverty and homelessness. We’ll be volunteering at WLP on the second Wednesday of every other month\, from 7 am to 11 am\, to help prepare and serve a nutritious meal for our neighbors confronting food and housing insecurity. \nContact ministry leader Nancy Kelly via the form below to volunteer.

DESCRIPTION:We return to Rosie’s Place\, the oldest women’s shelter in the country\, to prepare and serve dinner to the shelter’s guests. The Rosie’s Place staff designs the menu\, they just need our hands and hearts to prepare and serve the meal! No kitchen experience is necessary. All are welcome! \n#1. The Warmth of Other Suns\, The Epic Story of America’s Great Migration by Isabel Wilkerson (2010). . Wednesday\, June 24 \, 6:30 – 8 pm\, Zoom \nJoin us for a discussion of this groundbreaking book based on historical research and more than a thousand interviews. The story of the Great Migration is told through the lens of the lives of three remarkable protagonists: Ida May Gladney\, a sharecropper’s wife moving from Mississippi to Chicago in the 1930’s; George Starling\, a student and citrus groves worker fleeing from Florida to New York in the 1940’s; and\, Robert Foster\, a medical surgeon and war veteran leaving Louisiana with hopes of a better life in California in the 1950’s. \nWe welcome all interested to discuss the social\, political\, and spiritual journey of the people in the book and the collective cross-country journey of over six million Southern Blacks to the North and West and how this indelibly shaped America.
